Budget hotels boom in Asia

International hoteliers are betting big on budget hotels in Asia.

Major hotels like InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott and Accor and Indian companies like Taj, ITC are planning to expand their budget hotel chain in India.

With a boom in tourism, many budget hotels are planned for tier-II and tier-III cities across India as well.

Rising spending by domestic travellers in India and Indonesia is prompting international hoteliers to build budget and mid-scale brands in the world's second and fourth largest populations.

Ginger, run by the Tata Group's Indian Hotels Company, owner of Taj hotels, has 24 budget hotels in India with plans to grow to 75 hotels over the next four years.
