Bangalore's pride: India's first electric bus

In a move to make Bangalore a cleaner city, the state-run Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will operate a swanky electric bus.

The bus will run on the busy Majestic-Kadugodi road in Bangalore on a trial basis for three months.

The eco-friendly bus can travel a distance of about 250 km on a single charge.

The fully air-conditioned bus can make six trips a day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. It takes six hours to charge the battery fully.

The zero emission vehicle is also quieter compared to other vehicles.

The energy recovery and battery recharging through optimal regenerative braking reduces brake component wear.

The energy consumption amounts to 1.2kWh/km. The bus has wider window glasses for aesthetic look and clear visibility.

The electric bus battery pack has a battery management system (BMS) that monitors safety, voltage and temperature of the individual cells for charge safety and balancing.

There is a LED display boards at the front, rear side and internal display board  with bus announcement system.

Two closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) are provided in the bus.
