Nissan Evalia to face big challenge from Xylo, Innova

Urban Class Utility Vehicle... umm, what on earth this is? Well this is what Nissan is calling Evalia it's upcoming MPV sensation.

It is all set to debut in India by September 2012.

The first Evalia in India will sport a 1.5L K9K dCi diesel engine in a more refined package, and then sometime in early 2013 will come the 1.6L petrol version.

Nissan proudly announced Evalia will change the way people look at an MPV with aspects like greater fuel economy, better car-like maneuverability and wholesome interior room.

This Mahindra MPV will provide tough competition to Nissan Evalia in the pricing and styling part.

Styled with aggressive looks, the Xylo is certainly a threat for other utility vehicles. In comparison to Nissan Evalia's 1.5L diesel engine, Xylo's engines have more power.   

On the mileage factor Xylo can be grounded. The mileage out of the three engines range between 13 kmpl and 14.95 kmpl, whereas the low displacement powertrain of Nissan Evalia will return anything above 19.3 kmpl.

Toyota Innova

One cannot forget that Innova had actually changed the mindset of MPV buyers in India with its premium offer.

At present, the Innova is available, in India, in 2.0L petrol and 2.5L diesel engine options.

The diesel version churns 102PS and 200Nm while the petrol engine gives 132PS and 181 Nm.

It is quite clear that in terms of power and displacement Evalia is pretty subdued compared to Innova.
