New Range Rover to be launched on September 29

The all-new Land Rover, which is now in its 4th generation form, will officially make its debut on September 29 at the Paris Motor Show.

The latest SUV, as the company states, is the first SUV to have the all-aluminium body frame. With this the bare shell of the Rover becomes just 12 kgs heavier than the Mini Countryman Shell.

Thus, now that the SUV is 180 kgs lighter than its predecessor, we can safely say the performance will certainly improve multifold.

Further, the side-body is considered to be the "largest automotive panel in the world" as it is pressed in one piece.

The front grille, front bumper, redesigned fog lamps, headlamps, tail-lamps, all have the peculiarities of the Land Rover family, more specifically from the existing Range Rover and the Evoque.

On the inside, the Rover however gets all-new design features. The steering wheel design, centre console comes with brown and beige trims; while the lower end gets faux-wood finish.

The conventional gear stick is replaced with a rising gear knob that the Range Rover gets for the first time. This gear knob is seen as a standard in the Range Rover Evoque and Jaguar.

It comes with a new touch screen system, the same that is seen on the Evoque. The new Range Rover comes loaded with the Meridian surround sound music systems and power upper and lower tailgates.

The seats are large and comfortable, up front and for passengers in the rear seats as well. The cabin has been made roomy as the second row gets 118 mm increased leg space.

The new Range Rover gets the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine along with the existing 4.4-litre V8 and 5.0-litre supercharged engine.

The 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine has the ability to produce 256bhp of power along with a torque of 600Nm. And, the 4.4-litre mill can deliver 336bhp of power and 700Nm of torque, because of the lighter weight which has resulted in 9 per cent improvement in the performance.

There will be a hybrid option as well with the new Range Rover. It will be powered with the 3.0-litre diesel engine.

The hybrid would use the 1.7KWh motor. And with this last piece of information, the new Land Rover Range Rover becomes the first all-terrain hybrid vehicle.
