You must have seen the teaser ads of the new Hyundai Elite i20. It ends with the slogan ‘The compromise ends on August 11’ - the day of its launch. This is the global debut of the car.
As soon as the teaser ads were released, dealers started accepting pre-launch bookings.
Based on an all-new platform, the second generation i20 was styled by the company’s European design centre located in Russelsheim, Germany.

The new car adopts the brand’s improved Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy and the enhanced sense of width is apparent when viewed head on.
The new headlamps are stretched on either sides and the parabolic grille of the old car is replaced by a straight slit that connects the headlamps.
Just below it is a hexagonal secondary air dam, in place of the old car’s smaller trough-shaped element.
The new bumper features sharp air splitters and plays host to foglights and a third-level air intake.

In profile, the Elite i20 gets a more matured sheet metal design which is relatively understated. The roofline is flatter, making way for improved headroom at the rear.

Coming to the rear, the all-new Hyundai i20 again has nothing in common with its predecessor.
The new wraparound taillights and a windshield that extends all the way to the C-pillars make the hatchback look wider than it actually is.

Every element on the inside is also new. The second gen car’s dual-tone dashboard design features a superior design and layout.
The multi-function steering wheel is similar to that of the Grand i10 and the new instrument console houses a larger multi-info display.
The centre console adopts a hexagonal theme, but there are still too many buttons.
Overall though, the new i20 seems a step in the right direction for the Korean car maker.
