To become a niche player and maintain higher growth rates in the slowdown era, Vanenburg Asia, the Hyderabad-based sales and marketing arm of the Netherlands-based Vanenburg Group, is planning to focus on developing comprehensive solutions for lean manufacturing organisations.
Lean manufacturing is a Japanese concept, which emphasises on maintaining lean inventory structures and enhanced productivity levels. It has the best of the features of Japanese systems such as `Just-in-time' and `Kaizen'.
As part of this, the company has launched a new IT solution - Cordys Collaboration Suite. The solution, completely developed by Vanenburg's Hyderabad development centre, helps organisations to extend and modernise their legacy applications including enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and at the same time improve the utilisation of investments made in existing technology infrastructure. It took three years for a 100- member team to develop the suite.
"Cordys is the platform on which we are building up applications for lean manufacturing organisations. The first application, which is a quality management solution - Quality Navigator is already developed and we are expecting to launch the full range of modules such as collaborative design, collaborative manufacturing, total productivity management etc in the next three to four years," D Bharath, president of Vanenburg Asia, told Business Standard.
Many Indian organisations, especially in verticals such as high tech electronics are evincing interest to adopt the lean manufacturing practices, he added.
The Hyderabad development centre of Vanenburg currently employs about 400 people and plans are afoot to ramp up the strength to meet the launch schedules of new applications.
The Cordys suite is ideal for Indian enterprises, which seek easy, low-cost alternative to move away from the four-walled technology solution set, Bharath explained.
"We would like to invite all enterprise resource planning (ERP) customers to take advantage of this platform to modernise their installations and build a flexible IT architecture for the future," he added.
While it typically costs about Rs 15 lakh for a 25 user licensed version, the company also offers the option of subscription-based pricing.
In the backdrop of budgetary constraints, organisations prefer the pay-by-use model rather than making upfront investments, Bharath said.
Vanenburg is headquartered in Putten in the Netherlands. The Indian operations of the company are carried out from Vanenburg IT Park in Hyderabad.
