West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her counterpart in Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday congratulated Google's new CEO Sundar Pichai, 24 hours after the whole world was done with showering praises on Pichai.
"Congratulations Sundar Pichai. You are an inspiration. Doubly proud that you studied at IIT Kharagpur. Wish you visit your old college soon," Banerjee said in a statement.
According to another report from Chennai, Jayalalithaa greeted Pichai, who is a native of Tamil Nadu.
"Congratulations on your appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of Google Inc. It is a matter of pride for Tamil Nadu that a person with roots in the State has attained such a high position in a highly competitive environment through ability and hard work," she said in her congratulatory letter.
"You have set a wonderful example for the youth of the state.
"On behalf of the people and Government of Tamil Nadu I congratulate you on your elevation and wish you all success in your new position," she said in her letter copies of which were circulated to the media.
