TVS Motor Company plans to roll out a variant of its controversial motorcycle 'Flame' with single spark engine in a week as two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto gears up to launch the advanced version of popular model 'Pulsar' on Tuesday.

The new bike -- Flame SR 125 -- would be an advanced version of its existing model Flame, which has single spark CCVTi engine.

"We will launch the Flame SR 125, which is an advanced version of the existing Flame, this month," TVS Motor Company president (marketing) H S Goindi told PTI.

He, however, declined to give details saying that the company would reveal the price and other specifications of the bike within next 2-3 days.

Meanwhile, sources said Flame SR 125 would be available in showrooms from next week.

TVS Motor's decision comes on the eve of Bajaj Auto's launch of its premium Pulsar with a 220cc engine on June 23.

The Chennai-based firm has been accused of infringing Bajaj Auto Ltd's twin-spark technology and using it in 'Flame', and the two have been battling it out in the courts for a couple of years. BAL had accused TVS of copying its patented DTSi (digital twin spark ignition) technology.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court had barred TVS from selling Flame model with twin spark technology, although the apex court had permitted the firm to manufacture the same.
