Eyeing to capture wider market for embedded software systems, Florida-based Trioz Tech launched its operations in India by setting up a research and development centre in Coimbatore.
With a $12-15 billion embedded systems market in India, excluding defence, the company expected to achieve a business worth $1.5 billion in the first year, its vice president Madan A Senthil told reporters in Coimbatore.
The company would concentrate on automobile and defence sector for supplying embedded software for high technology micro-processor based environments, including cell phones, set top boxes and home appliances, he said.
With the conditional access system soon coming into force in India, the company was willing to provide software for set-top boxes at low cost. However, the cost of the box would depend on the hardware, he said.
