Titan Industries has launched Cal Track, an electro-mechanical device, which will help track a person's calorie expenditure round the clock.
The device not only registers the steps taken but also tracks calorie expenditure whether one is on the move or at rest in a 24-hour cycle, company officials said.
Lightweight and easy to use with digital display, it uses a World Health Organisation-recommended formula to calculate calories burnt, the company's chief operating officer (watches), Bijou Kurien, said at the launch.
Priced at Rs 995, the Cal Track comes with a food journal and a diary to keep track of daily calorie consumption and expenditure, thereby assisting in weight management programmes, he said.
The company, a joint venture between the Tata Group and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, is positioning it as a 'consumer product' and promoting it as India's first 24x7 calorie tracker.
The product was launched on a pilot basis in Bangalore and Kurien said the company would evaluate customer response and refine the device, if required, before taking it to the rest of the country.
