Country's largest software exporter Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Monday reported a 6.1 per cent growth in consolidated net profit at Rs 2,301 crore (Rs 23.01 billion) for the second quarter ended September 30, 2011.
The company had a net profit of Rs 2,169.21 crore (Rs 21.69 billion) during the July-September quarter last year.
Revenues rose to Rs 11,633.49 crore (Rs 116.33 billion), up 25.3 per cent from Rs 9,286.39 crore (Rs 92.86 billion),
TCS said in a filing to BSE.
The board of directors proposed an interim dividend of Rs 3 per share to shareholders.
The company made a net addition of 12,580 employees, taking its total headcount to 214,770. The company during the quarter under review added 35 new clients.
At the end of September 30, 2011, cash and bank balance of the company stood at Rs 7,036.79 crore (Rs 70.37 billion).Shares of TCS closed at Rs 1,119.80 on the BSE, down 1.30 per cent from the previous close.
