On a major expansion mode, IT major Tata Consultancy Services Ltd would increase its headcount by 13,500 including 1,700 additional hands for the Kolkata centre by this financial year.
"We are going to have a net addition of 13,500 professionals this fiscal and have created facilities to accommodate the additional manpower," S Ramadorai, TCS managing director and CEO said in Kolkata.
This, however, would be exclusive of the additional manpower to be inducted in the company following its recent acquisition of FNS, Australia and Chilean software firm Comicrom and proposed integration with Tata Infotech.
While the total intake will be 18,000, "discounting for normal attrition rate, the net addition will be 13,500," he said.
The company, which was holding its seventh annual academic conclave 'Sangam' in Kolkata, was focussing on enhancing 'research relations' with the academia in India and abroad to enhance competency and quality of its professionals, Ramdorai said.
Ramadorai said the company may consider to externalising its training programme after the proposed integration with Tata Infotech.
About the IT services, he said the company was focussing on developing specific products in segments like healthcare, telecom, governance, insurance, emerging sectors like life sciences and energy besides the financial and banking sector, which were the biggest driver of revenue growth for the company.
Financial sevices and banking contributed to about 41 per cent of the company's revenue while manufacturing accounted for 18 per cent. Geographically, the US remains the largest market for the company in terms of revenue generation.
To a query, Ramadorai ruled out any plan to merge CMC Ltd in the company in the near future.
About the Kolkata centre, he said the induction of about 1,700 professionals would take the total strength to 5,500.
