Speaker Somnath Chatterjee rejected the Bharatiya Janata Party's demand for a joint parliamentary probe into the Spectrum deal which according to BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar is "the mother of all scams" and has favoured a few individuals to the tune of several thousand crores by resorting to underwriting the amount involved in the deal.

Javadekar sought to know the details of the letter written by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Communication minister A Raja.

"The Prime minister should tell the nation what is there in the letter as Raja has been time and again claiming that he is saying that he has done nothing illegal and he is strictly following the PM's instructions  We
insist that the speaker should allow a JPC to unearth the details of this scam. There was lot of exchange of letters between TRAI and the company. This too should be made public," Javadekar demanded.

The BJP leader from the Rajya Sabha wanted to know as to who the real owner of the company was. "I would like to know what was the company dealing that its seed money grew from zero to Rs 700 crores in a year. According to rough estimates it has Rs 6,000 crores, enough to fund the general elections,"  Javadekar said.
