Ratan Tata named 'Businessman of the Decade'

Last updated on: August 9, 2010 11:23 IST

The Federation of the Indo-Israeli Chambers of Commerce, on August 6, bestowed the 'Businessman of the Decade' honour upon Ratan Tata, who heads the $71-billion Tata empire.

Tata, who is set to retire in 2012, refused to comment on the succession plan. When asked by the mediapersons to shed some light on the five-member committee formed to find his successor Tata said: Maaf kijiye, abhi nahi. (Please excuse me, not now).

The chief guest for the evening was K Sankarnarayanan, Governor of Maharashtra. Israel's Ambassador to India Mark Sofer, Consul General of Israel in Mumbai Orna Sagiv, and tennis ace Leander Paes spoke about Tata.
