India must regain higher growth: FM

India must return to the higher growth path at the earliest, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Tuesday.

The economy grew at 6.7 per cent in 2008-09, which is a sharp downward curve when compared to the 9 per cent or more growth that took place in the previous three years.

The government forecast that the deficit would narrow to 5.5 per cent of the GDP in 2010-11 and 4 per cent in 2011-2012.
