Non-voice business process outsourcing major Tricom India Ltd has acquired US-based marketing company Tricom Document Management Inc for around $20,000, and proposes to invest over $1 million in the next one-two years.
The acquired firm would function as a marketing subsidiary of the company in US, Tricom India Managing Director Chetan Kothari said on Tuesday.
"The US accounts for 95 per cent of our business and data capture industry is over $20 billion in US, hence having our own marketing office is a strategic choice in the long run," he said.
This would also help the company to directly deal with clients, eliminating intermediate service bureaus, he added.
At present, the acquired company has around four to five staff, which would be ramped up to around 10 within a short period, he said.
The city-based company has also received shareholder's approval of the acquired company to invest around $1 million in the next two-three years for setting up call centres and marketing divisions in US, he added.
Tricom India Executive Director (Operations) Jayant Tanksale said, "we are also focusing on other markets in UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland."
