Air Sahara on Thursday started its Colombo-Bangalore flight, its second flight from India to Sri Lanka.

With that, Sahara became the first airline to offer two daily flights to Colombo, a company spokesperson said in New Delhi.

"We are proud to connect Bangalore, which is an important sector for Air Sahara," the spokesperson quoted the airline's CEO, U K Bose, as saying. Air Sahara had started its Colombo-Chennai flight on March 22 this year.

Air Sahara was "aggressively planning to expand international operations and will be adding new aircraft to its fleet," the spokesperson said.

"Plans are also being worked out for adding Kathamandu and Dhaka in the near future."

Air Sahara and Jet Airways were recently permitted by the Director General of Civil Aviation to fly to Nepal and Bangladesh. The two airlines are awaiting nod for their flying schedule.

The airline's vice president (corporate strategy and commercial) Alok Sharma said, "Air Sahara has developed attractive package for Colombo."

Meanwhile, Jet Airways was also finalising its schedule for connecting Colombo with Bangalore and Mumbai.
