Supreme Court admits Infocomm appeal

The Supreme Court on Thursday admitted an appeal by Reliance Infocomm against a government order imposing Rs 150 crore (Rs 1.5 billion) penalty for violating telecom licensing conditions by diverting international calls as local ones.

Reliance Infocomm had earlier appealed to the telecom tribunal which had upheld the penalty decision imposed by the Department of Telecom.
