Reliance Infocomm, the largest private telecom service provider in the country, has deployed Veraz networks' I-Gate 4000 PRO media gateways, supporting 60,000 ports for international long-distance VoIP traffic.
Veraz did not disclose the size of the contract but market sources estimated it at $7 million, business daily Globes said.
Reliance selected the start up's I-Gate 4000 PRO media gateways for its compression rate of up to 10:1, using key algorithms, including RTP multiplexing and G729 codecs.
The companies stated that this is the highest compression rate in the industry, and double the compression rate of any other product in the market, the daily said.
Veraz is the leading global provider of soft-switch-based, toll-quality packet telephony solutions for traditional and next-generation communications networks.
It is privately funded by Norwest Venture Partners, ECI Telecom, Argonaut Private Equity, Battery Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, and Levensohn Venture Partners and is headquartered in San Jose with development centres in Israel, US and India.
