Hot cars that ruled the Indian roads in 2014

If we talk about the car market in particular, the Indian buyers have always looked for vehicles that give decent mileage, are good looking and fall under affordable price range.

When it comes to the Indian masses, the word ‘economical’ comes to the mind first.

This is a common phenomena in almost all the categories, be it smartphones, electronic appliances or the automobile sector, we always choose the ‘good at the best price'.

If we talk about the car market in particular, the Indian buyers have always looked for vehicles that give decent mileage, are good looking and fall under affordable price range.

But things are now changing and as Indian economy is rapidly growing, we are witnessing a steep rise in the sales of performance cars which are neither great on mileage nor affordable, but are the passions of the petrol heads due to their dynamic functioning on roads.

The same scenario was seen in 2014 with a lot of high end cars entering the Indian market filling the appetite of a lot of car enthusiasts.

So let us look chronologically at some of the meanest performance cars launched in 2014.

Audi RS7  

We all know that its something special when the name Audi pops out and the German auto manufacturer doesn't disappoint us in this respect.

In the form of Audi RS7, it has given us one of the most powerful cars of 2014.

Priced at Rs. 1.29 crore, this beast matched every bit of its price in terms of aesthetics and performance reaching the 100 kmph mark in a stunning 3.9 seconds.

With the 4 litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 powertrain, Audi RS7 delivers output of 560bhp at 6700rpm and maximum torque of 700Nm at 1750rpm.

Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 outrivals Audi RS7 in terms of performance.

The blazing machine which replaced Gallardo nameplate, can reach the 100kmph barrier little faster in just 3.2 seconds. In fact this speedy vehicles zips to 200kmph in mere 9.9 seconds.

The top speed for the car is a whopping 325kmph that can be attributed to the powerful 5.2 litre V10 engine that pours out gigantic 610bhp and peak torque of 560Nm.

Mercedes Benz GLA and CLA 45 AMG

Another legendary name from Germany, Mercedes Benz launched two new performance cars in India this year viz. the GLA 45 and CLA 45 AMG that boast of some staggering stats to back them up.

Mercedes Benz GLA 45 AMG runs on a 1991cc engine that belts out a power of 360bhp at 6000rpm and a torque of 450Nm at 2250 to 5000rpm.

The car can reach 100kmph from 0 in just 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250kmph.

Mercedes Benz CLA 45 AMG has a 1991cc engine as well but differs in terms of power delivery, offering 335bhp at 6000rpm and 450Nm of torque at 2250rpm.

The car reaches from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.6 seconds while its top speed stands at 250kmph. Both these powerhouses are beautifully crafted and are one of the best designed cars of the year.

BMW M Series

The M-Series from BMW has some of the best sports cars that include M6 Gran coupe, M3, M4 and M5.

These cars have some serious firepower but the best and the most expensive of the lot is the M6 Gran Coupe. BMW M6 Gran coupe has a 4.4 litre V8 twin turbo engine that generates 560bhp under the hood and gives tremendous acceleration figures reaching 100kmph in just 4.2 seconds.

The maximum speed of 250kmph shows how fast this beast can be with its 6 speed manual transmission system.

The vehicle also has a seven speed dual clutch variant that consumers can opt for. M6 Gran coupe has a very aerodynamically friendly shape from the front with sleek outlines.

The BMW M3 model is another powerful coupe from the German firm that races away to 100kmph from 0 in just 4.1 seconds.

The coupe holds a 2979cc engine drawing 431bhp at 7300rpm and 550Nm of torque at 1850rpm.
