This was decided at a high-level official meeting held at the Finance Ministry in Islamabad and chaired by Salman Shah, advisor to the Prime Minister on finance.
Pakistan needs to import 4,000 to 5,000 animals (goats, sheep, buffalos and cows) every day to reduce beef and mutton prices in the country and India is not willing to export cows and buffaloes to Pakistan for several reasons including, religious reservations, Daily Times quoted a Pakistani official as saying.
However, India was willing to export meat to Pakistan, but not live animals, he said.
The exports started after Pakistan decided to import six products, including meat to bring down the prices at home, the official said.
