Communications network major Nortel Networks is expected to clinch soon the metro area network deployment deals from two telecom operators in the country.
"We have successfully completed recently two pilots of metro area networks for two telecom companies -- one private and one government -- with the initial service likely to start in the next one month by the two operators," Ravi Chauhan, country manager, India and SARRC, Nortel Networks, told PTI in New Delhi on Saturday.
He however declined to identify the two telecom companies.
Along with the metro area network, the company is also eyeing major part of its Indian revenue to come from ITeS and BPO, infotech security, voice and data integration.
Targetting bigger orders from the call centres, where it already has up to 70 per cent of penetration, Chauhan said the voice-based solutions would continue to drive Nortels India's revenue in a bigger way.
Bigger players in the call centre space like ICICI OneSource, Progeon, Hinduja TMT are already using Nortel call centre solutions
The company's other major customer segment is the banks and financial services sector, where integration voice and data is required.
Bharti Telenet has deployed Nortel's metro optical platform for its fixed line network in Delhi, while Bharti Telesonic deploys the network for its national and international long distance services.
