Indian tourists travelling to Malaysia can now avail the 'visa on arrival' facility and can invest in real estate and property in Malaysia.

"In order to keep abreast with the unsurpassed interest generated in Malaysia by Indians it is imperative to establish relaxed visa procedures to spur intra-regional travel and bolster tourism," Deputy Director General Tourism Malaysia Razali Mohd Daud said.

Indians can utilise the Visa on Arrival facility from six different points of entry to the country and the visa would be valid for a period of maximum 30 days at the cost of RM 100, charged as port of entry visa, he added.

The tourism ministry was also launching a campaign to attract Indian private investments in Malaysian real estate which would allow Indians to own houses, flats, villas and resorts in the country, said Daud.

Malaysia is celebrating more than 240 events during the "Visit Malaysia Year 2007" as the country is celebrating its 50 years of nationhood.

The total tourism receipts from India surged by 72 per cent in 2005 to be RM 557.5 million. The Meeting Incentive Conferences and Exhibitions segment from India has seen a double digit growth of 28 per cent in 2005 with 23,302 people visiting as against 18,081 in 2004.

With this new regime of Visa on Arrival scheme we expect around 50,000 visitors from MICE segment for the year ending 2007, Daud added.
