There was massacre on Dalal Street as the Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex suffered its second-largest fall of 564 points to close at 4505.
The NSE Nifty too was savaged, losing 197 points to close at 1385.5. Twice on Monday, markets fell below the circuit breakers, and trade had to be stopped.
On a day of tremendous volatility in the markets, where the Sensex also experienced its largest-ever intra-day fall of 787 points, stocks across the board plunged big time.
There were also some who gained while there was mayhem all around them.
