The software exports from Bangalore has grown 28 per cent for the five months of the present fiscal as against the corresponding period of the previous year.
The flow of companies into Bangalore during the period is at 68 with an investment of around Rs 1,100 crore (Rs 11 billion).
Stating these figures, B V Naidu, director, STPI (Karnataka) said the rush to Bangalore remains unabated and there should be a 33-35 per cent growth in total software exports from the state during the present fiscal.
Riding on this, the Karnataka government intends to stage the ninth edition of Bangalore IT.in 2006 during the end of next month. 'Brand Bangalore is the Best' goes the tagline for the event in an effort to bring back the much-needed lustre to the event.
"The State of Karnataka is celebrating the 50th year of its formation, starting November 1, 2006 and this is the 22-Carat event of these celebrations," said a state government official.
Added Anup K Pujari, principal IT secretary, government of Karnataka: "The state government has embarked on several initiatives that will not only revolutionise technological advancements in the state, but will also underline Brand Bangalore's IT dominance in this part of the world. Our plans to host Bangalore Nano has generated a keen interest in all quarters with countries like Japan already confirming their participation."
He further added that 'Bangalore Unwired' project will be adopted through WiMax technology to create a citywide wireless infrastructure to provide seamless integrated wireless digital environment.
"The Knowledge City being set up at Bidadi will give the IT sector in the state a major fillip apart from making it a learning hub. All these initiatives have contributed to Brand Bangalore standing out as the most sought-after destination for IT in the sub-continent," highlighted Pujari.
Bangalore IT.in 2006 scheduled for October 28-31, 2006 will be spread over 20,000 square metres and will have eight focus pavilions namely, e-Nation, e-Hardware & Digital Lifestyle, e-Software, e-Infocom, e-Gaming & Animation, e-States, IT Park and STPI.
Besides the main pavillions, the trade show will have a Buyer-Seller's Meet, Global Zone, Bid & Buy.
