Intel has signed agreements with Wipro, Mistral, Sasken Technology and eInfochips for chip physical designing in India.

The agreement has been signed for the next two to three years, informed an official of a renowned Banglore based IT company.

The companies will be undertaking application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) designing and embedded designing for Intel.

Jeniffer Rajan, spokesperson of Intel India, confirmed that Intel has invested in some companies, but refused to give further information.

Wipro, at its ASIC design centre, will execute projects that range from architecture and design to implementation, synthesis, physical design and silicon validation.

Wipro has signed an agreement with Intel for ASIC designs in 0.13u or tighter geometry, design sizes in multi-million gates and pin-counts in excess of 1,200 pins, sources said.

The agreement with Sasken Technologies is with the aim of nurturing technology for local use, said sources. The Nortel network had also invested almost $10 million in Sasken in April.

Mistral too has offered Intel 'Board and FPGA Designs', a concept of a fully functional board. Mistral's product will support processor inter-communications and high-speed I/O and memory access operations. "Mistral also has many other project deals with Intel," claimed sources.

eInfochips, which recently purchased Megma's five implementation softwares, has also offered comprehensive design and verification of systems on chip for computing to Intel in Banglore.
