Consumer inflation in rural areas rises to 9.73%

MoneyInflation based on consumer price index for Rural Labourers rose to 9.73 per cent in October, from 9.25 per cent in September.

The rate of price rise based on the Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers fell to 9.36 per cent in October, from 9.43 per cent in the previous month, an official release said.

On a point-by-point basis, the CPI index reported a marginal rise of 0.65 per cent during October to 619 points compared to 615 points in September.

Meanwhile, the CPI (RL) also went up by 0.97 per cent to 620 points in October from 614 points in the previous month.

Clothing, bedding and footwear index for agricultural labourers was up 0.84 per cent in October on a monthly basis and food was expensive by 0.82

per cent.

While pan and supari was expensive by 0.75 per cent, fuel and light was up by 0.59 per cent. Miscellaneous items also became dearer by 0.70 per cent for agricultural labourers.

In the case of rural labourers, food prices went up by 0.82 on a monthly basis, while pan and supari was became expensive by 0.87 per cent in October.

Clothing, bedding and footwear became expensive by 1.17 per cent and, fuel and lighting by 0.59 per cent.

In October, miscellaneous items also went up by 0.17 per cent for rural labourers month-on-month.
