Claiming his recent visit to India was a "big success", Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, president of the Indo-Pak Chamber of Commerce, has said the two countries should work towards improving the bilateral trade.

The Indo-Pak leadership should resolve the political differences and exploit the huge $6 billion annual bilateral trade potential, Bilour said.

Acknowledging India's progress in engineering, textile, plastic and marble sectors, Bilour said "The Pakistani entrepreneurs can purchase very good quality machinery and cars from India at cheaper rates as compare to the western countries."

He admitted that the balance of trade would be in favour of India but dispelled the impression that Pakistan would be a loser in the bilateral trade.

"Direct import of goods from India will cost much less than buying them from other countries," he was quoted as saying by the Pakistani daily, The News.

Bilour, who led a 100-member business delegation to India this week, claimed his team had 400 meetings with Indian businessmen and signed deals worth $200 million.
