Moving ahead from offering sector specific wage rates within India, paycheck.in will soon monitor global minimum wage standards across regions like Asia, Pacific, Middle East and Europe.

A portal which gives transparent wage rates across sectors, the research for the website is handled by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

While its research is led by Biju Varkkey, a faculty member of IIM-A, paycheck.in's technical infrastructure is handled by WageIndicator Foundation, an Amsterdam-based non-profit organisation.

"Paycheck.in had so far been offering information on wages and salary structure across sectors. However, in couple of months, we will be expanding its offering to include global minimum wage standards. On our part, we will be researching and offering database on minimum wage standards being operated in various countries. The project will be launched soon jointly by WageIndicator Foundation and IIM-A wherein we will begin researching the standards across countries," said Varkkey.

Apart from minimum wage standards, the portal will also look at offering information on women's labour rights across countries.

Currently, for creating a database of salary structures, paycheck.in allows visitors to the site to fill up a short questionnaire pertaining to their current employment, salary, incentives and educational background, which gets added to the database.

Apart from job seekers, the portal also allows companies to fill in details on their wage structures, making it easy for job seekers to have an idea of what salary they can quote during interviews.

What's more, to protect the identity of the users, the portal keeps personal details like name and company under wraps.

Moreover, to encourage visitors to the website to fill up the questionnaires, prizes like a trip to Africa or an iPod are also being offered by paycheck.in and similar wage websites affiliated to the WageIndicator Foundation.

The site also has a separate section called VIP paycheck which gives details on salaries drawn by famous personalities like Pratibha Patil, Sachin Tendulkar, Serena Williams, Britney Spears and Hillary Clinton.
