Hyundai Mobile eyes Rs 30 cr adspend

Hyundai Mobile is planning to spend around Rs 20-30 crore (Rs 200-300 million) on marketing its mobile phones, PC, PDAs, DECT phones and wi-fi laptops starting January 2005.

"Suniel Shetty, who is the director and chief mentor of Hyundai Mobile, will be the brand ambassador and spearhead all marketing and advertising initiatives. The marketing plan will be a 360 degree effort combining print, outdoor and electronic advertising, events, sponsorships and other such similar thrusts," said Vijay R Singh, vice-chairman and managing director, Hyundai India Telecom Ltd.

The company is the sole licensee in India of Hyundai Mobile and was set up with a Rs 10 crore (Rs 100 million) investment from the three promoters, Shetty, Singh and KP Jayaram, the chairman of the company. HITL will launch GSM mobile phone handsets, PDAs and smart phones in January 2005.
