The Hyderabad-based Four Soft (4S) has acquired the UK-based DCS Transport and Logistics for $19 million in cash, making it the largest company in the transportation and supply chain management software vertical.

The acquisition, made through subsidiary Four Soft BV of the Netherlands, would double the Indian company's presence to eight countries and increase its customer base to over 250 from the present 120.

'This acquisition would help us emerge as the world's largest logistics software provider, apart from the top 20 major customers spread across 75 countries in the world.

The customers also include Germany-based Kuenhe & Nagel and DHL,' Palem Srikanth, chief executive officer, told reporters here today. DCS has operations in the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France and US and the acquisition would help 4S revenues post revenues of $28 million in the current fiscal.

The deal makes Four Soft the leading firm in this vertical, surpassing the US-based TMW that had posted revenues of around $25 million in last fiscal.
