Fiat India on Thursday announced the appointment of Alberto Montanari as the new chairman and managing director in place of M P Bianchi, who takes over a senior position in Fiat Italy in Turin.
Montanari's last posting was in South Africa, where he was in charge of Fiat Auto's operations as managing director. He has spent over 16 years with the Fiat family.
Bianchi, welcoming Montanari, said in a statement that Fiat was working towards achieving a good level of indigenisation of the diesel range, which is scheduled for launch in a few months time.
"Fiat has a strong future in India. A good foundation has been set in place and the company is now ready to move aggressively into the next phase of growth in the Indian market," he added.
