McAfee Chairman and CEO George Samenuk said its branch in India was the "major reason" behind the firm increasing its profitability margin to 25 per cent in 2005 compared to 13 per cent in the previous year and earning $1.15 billion in 2005.
"One of the key drivers that helped McAfee transform into a leading global security provider and achieve best-in-class profitability since 2002 is our R & D centre in India", he told reporters here, referring to the Bangalore engineering group that constituted 30 per cent of the company's global research and development team.
The California-based security management company's executives said the stress would be on engineering ownership of many products in India. "The centre will focus on research and development of security solutions and product innovation and will take ownership of some of the key security products it creates from requirements to customer release," they said.
