Sanjiv Vohra to head Citigroup in Philippines

Citigroup, the world's largest financial services group, has named Sanjiv Vohra as its country officer, and corporate and investment bank head in the Philippines. Vohra had been head - corporate bank, India and the sub-continent, since 2002.

The US banking major has also appointed Surojit Shome the new head of corporate banking in India, which is an expanded role which incorporates his current financial institutions portfolio.

Shome will report to Sanjay Nayar, Citigroup country officer - India, and area head - Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, as well as to Sanjiv Misra, regional head - Asia Pacific corporate banking.

Shome, who joined Citigroup in 1988, held, in the past 17 years, various positions including in Dubai as unit head for the mortgage group, regional corporate bank head role in north and south India and industry head position for autos.

Nayar said Shome's successful stint as head of financial institutions in India will be instrumental in leveraging the growth and development of the group's corporate banking in India. Vohra, who took charge in the Philippines effective November 1, 2005, will report to Catherine Weir, head - Asean, and Citigroup country officer, Singapore.

In addition, Vohra will have the oversight for Citigroup franchise in the Philippines in his capacity as Citigroup country officer, the Philippines.
