A group of Indian industrialists on Tuesday held talks with their counterparts from China's Yunnan province on the possibility of establishing a joint task force to study the potential areas for cooperation and investments.

Discussions were held to form a Joint Task Force between the Confederation of Indian Industry and China Council for Promotion of International Trade Yunnan branch to study the potential areas for trade, joint ventures, technology transfer and investment.

The group will also identify existing bottlenecks and impediments and suggest improvement in logistics and infrastructure to promote trade and investment in agro based industry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemicals, education and information technology, financial services and banking.

The group will also look into possible culture exchanges in art, theatre, music and dance between India and Yunnan, which is geographically very close to West Bengal and the north eastern states of India, CII sources said.

The CII and the CCPIT Yunnan jointly organised a round table meeting on China--India Economy and Trade Cooperation at Kunming, capital of Yunnan.

The meeting was attended by a high level delegation from India led by CII's former president Rajive Kaul, leading industrialist Vijay Kirloskar, Commercial and Economic Counsellor from the Embassy of India, Vinay Kwatra and Air India Manager, (China) Vinit Gupte.
