Centurion Bank will add 14 new branches to its network and recruit around 150 people in the current fiscal to expand business.

Centurion is now looking at second-level staff, said its human resource head Shalaka Gadekar. Most of these recruitments are for branch-level staff.

The bank has received the Reserve Bank of India approval to convert 14 asset finance divisions to full fledged bank branches.

The bank will have to employ around 84 new employees in the new unit, she added. Currently, the staff strength of the bank stands in excess of 1,100 and the average age of an employee is 32 years.

Revamping the second level personnel follows the banks decision to focus more on retail sector.  The bank plans to introduce mortgage products and credit cards in the current fiscal said Centurion Bank head retail assets Deepak Mundkar.

"We expect the retail business to grow by 60 per cent in the current fiscal," he added.

Speaking on the banks other initiatives Centurion Bank managing director, Shailendra Bhandari said that wealth management will also be a thrust area for the bank as it will earn substantial fee income for the bank. The bank is a process of tying up with a broking firm to offer direct equity services to its customers, he added.

The bank's other income as on March 31, 2004 accounted for 16 per cent of the total income, which the bank plans to increase to 20 per cent in the current fiscal.
