Common people in Bihar will be part of pre-budget consultation exercise, officials said. This is for the first time that state has introduced such a move.
The state government has decided to seek suggestions and views of common men in formulating the 2012-13 state budget. Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who is also the Finance Minister, said the government has decided
to invite written and online suggestions from people, in order to ensure their participation in the budget making process.
"Now common people should be part of the pre-budget exercise to ensure greater participation and transparency," he said.
Modi said that for the first time, common people will be able to give their suggestions and views in the pre-budget consultations.
"Until date only trade and industry bodies, intellectuals and professionals were consulted," he said.
