British Airways on Tuesday joined its peers in offering limited period discounted tickets to air travellers, rolling out up to 50 per cent lower fares on its flight from India to select global destinations including London, New York and San Francisco.
The airline has already commenced the bookings under the offer from September 8, which is applicable for the business, premium economy and economy class, British Airways said in a release.
British Airways has provided a nearly four-month window, from September 8 to December 31, for the travel period while the tickets under the discounted scheme can only be booked up to September 30, it said. The offers are valid for flights from India to select destinations in the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, Latin America and Caribbean.
"We, at British Airways, are always looking for opportunities to provide our Indian customers excellent value for money with an unparallelled service that they have come to expect from us. With these great fares we are hoping that our customers are spoilt for choice when choosing their favourite destinations," British Airways regional commercial manager for South Asia Christopher Fordyce said.
British Airways covers over 150 destinations in 75 countries while in India the carrier operates 46 flights a week from London's Heathrow airport to Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
Aiming at attracting Indian travellers to major global and domestic destinations, foreign and Indian carriers are vying with each other by offering discounted tickets for the last couple of weeks.
Last week, another European carrier Air France rolled out a flat discount on three classes of travel to South and Central America, making its tickets cheaper by up to Rs 10,000.
Domestic carriers, including newly-launched AirAsia India and regional airline Costa too have lowered their fares through these offers.
