Tata Motors, the home-grown automaker and creator of several new segments, is foraying into the premium SUV segment with an all-new product - the Hexa.

Tata Hexa had its world premiere at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in Concept form.

It is being touted as a successor to the not-so-successful Tata Aria and this time, the company hasn't left any stone unturned to make it a paragon of utility and space.

Even with a brief look, one can notice that immense attention is paid to the meticulously crafted interior cabin and features. The 2016 Auto Expo witnessed Tata Hexa in production guise, and undoubtedly, the new product from the stable of Tata Motors bears the stamp of supreme conviction.

Though, the official launch is still a month away but the company has released almost every detail regarding the SUV, including variants, features and engine specifications.

The exterior styling of the Hexa SUV, carried out by Tata design boss Pratap Bose, isn't ostentatious but it indeed gives a sense of freshness and sophistication.

The front fascia flaunts the signature front grille with chrome 'Humanity Line' and Smoked Projector headlamps with Daytime Running Lights (DRLs).

The body-coloured ORVMs and door handles further accentuate the appeal of the Hexa, while it rides on 19-inch Machined-cut alloy wheels. The rear end appears to be more prolific with the fog lamps and wraparound LED tail-lamp cluster.

Coming to the interior, it is leaps and bounds ahead of all the Tata products that have been launched in the Indian market.

The cabin is finished in premium sporty black theme, while the seat upholstery is done in Premium Benecke-Kaliko.

The SUV boasts of generous legroom, head room and shoulder room for all the rows, owing to the nearly proportionate dimensions.

The Tata Hexa gets all the bells and whistles that one would expect in a premium wagon such as Fully Automatic Temperature Control (FATC) with Dual HVAC, Rear AC vents on pillars (2nd & 3rd row) with Blower speed control, Reverse Parking Camera, Cruise Control, Automatic Headlamps, Rain Sensing Wipers, 8-way adjustable Driver seat, 3rd row seats with 50:50 foldable split, Rear Centre Armrest with Cup holders, 12V Power Outlets on all 3 rows, Twin Pod Instrument Cluster, Harman Kardon ConnectNext Touchscreen Infotainment system, Steering mounted Audio & Phone Controls and 10 Speaker JBL Sound system.

Though, most of the aforementioned features come with range-topping variants, but it is heartening to see the efforts of Tata Motors in technological advancement and innovation.

Currently, the auto industry is witnessing steep downfall in sales due to the demonetisation process and the situation is worsening with time.

However, Tata Hexa can be the 'saviour' for the company even if it rakes in sales numbers of around 3000-3500 units monthly.

The Tiago, another Tata vehicle, is doing incredibly well and Hexa has the potential to join the bandwagon and carryon the legacy.

The bookings for the Hexa have already started at Tata dealerships and recently, it was heard that it has recorded nearly 1000 orders. So, going by the number of pre-orders, it would be safe to assume that Hexa is here to stay and dominate, perhaps!
