Management lessons from Rani of Jhansi

February 26, 2009

Lakshmibai sensed the British were preparing for the final assault. To keep her troops' morale high, she cheered them on and also doled out money to them.

She rewarded most of the gunners, who risked everything to guard Jhansi, very well. She said Jhansi would remain independent so long as people want it to be.

Lesson: Risk and reward go hand in hand. It is human to expect appropriate reward for taking risks.
