Sapient lays off 300 staff

Software major Sapient has laid off 300 employees at its offices in Bangalore, Noida and Gurgaon.

A Sapient spokesperson confirmed the development and said this is part of the company's plan to reduce 8 per cent of its headcount globally. TV channels reported that no notice was given to the laid off employees.

Armed guards were deployed around the office on Friday and Saturday and employees were not allowed to enter the premises in Gurgaon.
