Reliance Power Q2 net profit at Rs 37 cr

Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Power said its net profit for the quarter ended September 30 stood at Rs 37.22 crore (Rs 372 million). For the half year ended September 30, the firm had a net profit of Rs 98.44 crore (Rs 984 million), Reliance Power said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The total income for the second quarter stood at Rs 56.96 crore (Rs 569 million), while its cash and liquid balance stood at Rs 10,756 crore (Rs 107.56 billion), the filing said.

However, the firm reported a loss from operations (before other income) of Rs 19.59 crore (Rs 195 million) for the second quarter, while its operational loss was Rs 36.96 crore (Rs 369 million) for the six months ending September 30.

The company is currently developing projects with an installed capacity of 28,200 MW, one of the largest portfolios of power generation assets under development in India, it added.

Reliance Power, which listed its shares on the bourses in February this year, had raised over Rs 11,000 crore (Rs 110 billion) through its initial public offer. Of the IPO proceeds, the company has utilised Rs 1,369.85 crore (Rs 13.69 billion) for part-financing its power projects, including Sasan, while it utilised Rs 927.69 crore (Rs 9.27 billion) for funding its Krishnapatnam project.

Shares of Reliance Power were trading at Rs 111.90, down 6.91 per cent in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
