Lalu Yadav, the management guru!
October 8, 2008
A congestion charge has been put on specific commodities. Of course, Yadav had said emphatically in his Railway Budget 2008-09 address to Parliament that there will be no increase in freight rates.
The Railways have raised the maximum permissible carrying capacity of its wagons by two to eight tonnes.
Soon after becoming the railway minister, Yadav banned plastic cups used for serving tea at railway stations and announced that they would be replaced by kulhads (earthen cups). He said that this would generate more rural employment.
