Still hoping to make a last minute bid to bag the Nano project even after the Tatas decided to move the project to Gujarat, Karnataka Cabinet on Tuesday set up a committee headed by industries minister to work out details of the incentives to be offered.
Principal secretary, industries department, Umesh and finance commissioner M R Srinivasa Murthy will be the members of the committee, State Minister for Home V S Acharya said after a cabinet meeting.
The committee will workout sops to be extended to Tata Motors and also the extent of land to be allotted.
Tatas have identified a site at Sanand, near Ahmedabad, where the Gujarat government will give 1,000 acres land from Anand Agricultural University for housing the Nano project.
A team of Tata Motors officials led by its managing director Ravi Kant had inspected three prospective sites for the plant in and around Dharwad on Sunday.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa himself had taken active role in getting the project holding two rounds of discussions and even a tele-conversation with Ratan Tata. The state had earlier assured allotment of 1,000 acres of land, as sought by the firm for the project.
Tatas already have two manufacturing units in Dharwad.
