Equipped with a flash-based memory, it has built-in noise-cancellation technology. With Sony's Walkman, users can upload music directly from a CD to the portable player without a computer. An additional cable or cradle accessory will be needed for this.

Sony will launch the 2GB ($200) and 1GB ($170) versions in the US shortly. The company will reveal its India plans soon. Sony has also lined up Walkman NWZ-A820, the video player. It will be the first Sony walkman to feature Bluetooth capabilities.
