Cabinet to consider SBS-SBI merger

Undeterred by a countrywide banking strike on Friday, the Cabinet is likely to take up next week a proposal for merger of State Bank of Saurashtra with its parent State Bank of India, Finance Ministry sources said.

While boards of both the banks had approved the merger plan, bank employees went on one-day strike protesting the move.

State Bank of Saurashtra is one of the seven associate bank of SBI.
