August 8, 2008

The other companies in the Fortune list include

  • Shantanu Narayen-run Adobe Systems,
  • Dinesh C Paliwal-headed Harman International,
  • Jai Nagarkatti-led life-sciences company Sigma-Aldrich, and
  • Francisco D'Souza-headed Cognizant Technology and LSI Corporation.

Shantanu Narayen is president and chief executive officer of Adobe, one of the world's largest and most diversified software companies. Narayen's leadership, technology insight and operational expertise have strengthened Adobe's culture of innovation and helped expand the company into new markets.

Dinesh C Paliwal has been CEO and president of Harman International Industries Inc, since July 1, 2007. Paliwal also serves as head of automation technologies division worldwide.

Nagarkatti was appointed president and CEO of Signa-Aldrich on January 1, 2006. He has over three decades of expertise in research and development, production, operations, and sales and marketing.

The fortune firms on the last year's list were:

  • PepsiCo,
  • Hartford,
  • Rohm & Haas,
  • Sigma-Aldrich,
  • LSI, and
  • Tellabs.

While Cognizant was not present in the 2007 list, Citigroup did not have a person of Indian origin as its CEOs.

Besides, Tellabs, which was previously headed by Krish A Prabhu, is no longer run by a person of Indian origin.

The company has moved down to the 916th position from 845th last year.

While Citigroup has retained its 8th position, PepsiCo has moved up to 59th, from 63rd rank last year.
