Jet Airways: 14 years of flying high!

The initial years: Jet undoubtedly is one of the biggest success stories in aviation history. India's first private airline Jet Airways has completed 14 successful years of flying.
From an 'air taxi' operator to India's largest private airlines, Jet Airways has come a long way.
Jet Airways commenced commercial airline operations on May 5, 1993. It was initially incorporated as an 'air taxi' operator on 1 April 1992. It started with a fleet of of 4 Boeing 737-300 aircraft, with 24 daily flights serving 12 destinations.
In 1991, when the open skies policy was introduced. Naresh Goyal, who owned Jetair (Private) Limited took advantage of the policy and ended the monopoly of the Indian Airlines.
Today, Jet Airways has largest market share with 340 flights daily to 44 destinations. In India, Jet connects a place every 5 minutes.
Jet Airways currently operates a fleet of 62 aircraft comprising 49 classic and next generation Boeing 737-400/700/800/900 aircraft, 3 Airbus A340-300E aircraft, 2 Airbus A330-200 aircraft and 8 modern ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft.
With an average fleet age of 5.3 years, the airline has one of the youngest aircraft fleet in the world.
