The Sino-India border trade began on Tuesday. The transaction on the first day was not very significant. It consisted of exports of a few quintals of rice and biscuits valued at Rs 10,000.

The Sino-India border trade has started with an extended period of six months instead of four months as decided earlier.

Sico-India traders body chief Anil Gupta told reporters that though only few items have been exported, the border trade would pick up soon.

He said 23 Chinese traders were present at Sherethang Trade Mart, India.

Industry secretary R Ongmu said trade exchange would gain momentum in the coming days.
