Farm prices remain stable

Farm commodity prices monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs have generally remained steady or have shown mixed trend in different centers across the country in the week ending June 5.

Wheat prices remained steady at majority of reporting centres and declined at Patna and Bangalore. Wheat prices have shown increase only at Ahmedabad.

Sugar prices remained steady across majority of the centres and declined at Guwahati and Chennai. There was a marginal increase at Ahmedabad and Shillong.

Gram prices remained steady over the week across most of the centers and declined at Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Patna and Bangalore. Tur dal prices were also steady across most of the centers.

As on June 6, public sector agencies have contracted import of 6.375 lakh tonne pulses of which 1.72 lakh tonne has already reached Indian ports.

At Delhi, no increase in prices has been reported over the week ending June 5. Prices of wheat, atta, gram dal, tur dal, sugar, groundnut oil and packaged salt remained steady over one week and prices of rice, milk, potato and vanaspati remained steady over one month. Prices of tea loose and mustard oil declined.
